4 Ways To Grown Your Email List As A Beauty Professional
Email marketing is perhaps the oldest form of online marketing and yet somehow still one of the most successful. In this article, I’ll outline 4 different ways you can grow your list as well as go over some “best practices” when sending out the actual emails.
Website Opt-Ins
Website Opt-In’s are a great way to build your email list IF done correctly. An opt-in can be in the form of a pop-up, newsletter sign-up, or landing page. The most effective opt-ins are ones that give value. The old “Subscribe to our newsletter!” just doesn’t cut it anymore. You have to have some skin in the game. Here are some opt-in ideas:
Introductory offer - Example: “Get 15% off your first service”
Free Download - Example: “Download Our Free Aging Backwards Guide”
Giveaway - Example: “Enter your email to win a free HydraFacial!”
2. Facebook Groups
Facebook Groups are extremely effective at funneling in new clients and a great way to show off your expertise. If you already have a Facebook Group, make sure that you are asking for their email address when they join your group! This can easily be added as a membership question when people request to join.
3. Webinars
I’m a webinar junkie and love learning from experts. As a beauty professional, you have so much knowledge and expertise to share! By doing live or even pre-filmed webinars, not only do you get to share your knowledge and build trust with potential clients, you get to grow your email list as well! Platforms like Zoom require attendees to input their email to gain access to the webinar. I also suggest having some sort of exclusive offer for those who attend to create even more motivation for people to join.
4. Giveaways
Now, we went over how you can do giveaways on a website pop-up but how about social media? I’m sure everyone has participated in an Instagram giveaway of some sort and the great thing about them is you can require different rules to enter such as sharing a post, tagging three of your friends, and commenting. This will help your exposure on the platform
Best Practices
It’s important to note that although there are plenty of ways to grow your email list. Here are some best practices when it comes to following up and actually sending the emails:
Follow up right away
Once someone shares their email address with you, make sure to either have an automated welcome email that immediately gets sent that includes something of value. This helps start the relationship on the right foot.
Leave the unsubscribed alone
There’s nothing more annoying than having to unsubscribe from newsletters multiple times. Sometimes people just aren’t ready or interested and that’s ok!
Don’t spam or flood their inbox
In the beauty industry, I’ve found that emails every week to every two weeks seem to be the Goldilocks number between being annoying and being irrelevant.
Make it count
Give value in 80% of your emails and be “salesy” the other 20%. Before sending out an email ask yourself “Would I want to open or read this?”. By continually giving great value to potential clients not only do you gain their trust but you also set yourself up for the sale. People are much more likely to invest in something or something that has already been invested in them.
Hopefully, these tips will help you with growing your email list and being more effective with your email marketing!
